My Daily Skincare Routine for Combination & Oily Skin

My everyday skincare routine for oily and combination skin

I’ve gotten a few questions about my skincare routine, so I wanted to share the products that I use on a daily basis – from my morning pick-me-up, to my nighttime cleanse and ‘mini-treatment’ (and I do mean ‘mini’).

You won’t find any fancy elixirs or treatments here.  Though I have accumulated quite the arsenal of facial masks, peels, scrubs, etc, I rarely reach for them these days.  My skin has been happy with just my daily mix of products, which together really help to balance out my combination/oily skin.  Since it’s so important not to over-cleanse or dry out oily/combo skin, I’ve stuck with gentle cleansers and tools, and rich moisturizers that contain oils to help lock in moisture.

The five main products I use cover all your basis needs – from exfoliating, moisturizing, keeping oilies at bay, and even smoothing fine lines.  So let’s jump into my (very simple and easy!) process:

My Morning Skincare Routine

Step 1: I like to do a quick cleanse as soon as I wake up, just to wash off any oil, dirt/dust, or whatever may have accumulated on my face while I was getting my beauty sleep. 🙂 I’ll use the Julep Bare Face Cleansing Oil in the morning because of its uplifting, juicy scent, plus it leaves my skin clear, balanced, and hydrated (oh, the wonders of an oil cleanser…).

carapex botantical facial moisturizerStep 2: After cleansing, I’ll use the Carapex Botanical Facial Moisturizer as my daily moisturizer. I love this one because it’s so rich and hydrating, and it absorbs super fast, leaving my skin super soft and primed for makeup.  It contains no fragrance, dyes, or toxic chemicals, making it perfect for my slightly sensitive skin, plus it’s made with 5 skin-loving oils including avocado, olive, sunflower, grapeseed and sweet almond oils.  (Check out my full review of the Carapex moisturizer here.)

My Nighttime Skincare Routine

Step 1: For my night-time cleanse, I use the Nature Pure Foaming Gel Cleanser. This cleanser came recommended to me by my esthetician and I’ve been loving it since. It provides a thorough cleanse (perfect for removing all kinds of makeup – waterproof eyeliner included), yet it’s gentle, non-drying, and full of amazing ingredients (Vitamin C, Aloe Vera Leaf Juice, Dog Rose Hips Extract, Chamomile Extract, and Dandelion Extract, just to name a few!).

foreo luna for normal/sensitive skin out of its boxStep 2: After I’ve smoothed the cleanser over my face, I’ll massage it in using the Foreo Luna to get an even deeper cleanse.  I love using the Luna as it not only thoroughly cleanses your skin, but also increases circulation, exfoliates, and allows for better absorption of the skincare products applied afterwards.  (The Luna actually covers a lot of what my scrubs and masks are designed to do, so I don’t find myself needing all those extra products!)

I’ve actually been using the Luna for about 3 months now, and can’t go a day without it.  Its deep cleansing and exfoliating abilities have really improved my skin’s overall appearance.  Unlike harsher devices that I’ve tried, the Luna gently removes makeup, dirt, oil, and dead skin, and leaves my skin clear and glowing! (You can find my full experience/review of the Luna here.  And if you’re interested in picking up the LUNA, visit the Foreo website here and use code BBLUNA15 to get 15% off plus free shipping through 3/31/16).

josie maran argan oil lightStep 3: Finally, as a hydrating nighttime moisturizer, I’ll apply Josie Maran Argan Oil Light.  Since I’ve started wearing the Josie Maran Protect + Perfect Argan Daily Moisturizer during the day (which already contains Argan Oil), I’ll apply this new ‘lighter’ version of Argan Oil to my face as a hydrating night treatment.  I do suspect that once Winter rolls around, I’ll be applying this both morning and night!  (You can find my full review of Argan Oil Light here.)
