Tarte continues to surprise me – from their Energy Noir palette and airbrush powder foundation, their products are slowly taking over my ‘Holy Grail’ makeup products lineup. The thing I like most about about their makeup is that they actually benefit your skin/lashes/etc over time through ingredients like superfruit and plant extracts, vitamins, minerals, and essential oils. My latest discovery from them is the Tarte Gifted Mascara, which has already become my new HG mascara. It reminds me a lot of Josie Maran’s Argan Black Oil mascara and its lash nourishing ingredients and volume, only I find this one works slightly better. 😉
Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara
The Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara is formulated to keep lashes hydrated, healthier, and stronger. It contains Amazonian clay which works to hydrate dry lashes to prevent fallout. Amazonian clay also absorbs oil and keeps the mascara in place for longer, flake-free wear. At the same time, the Gifted mascara dramatically increases lash volume by 406%. It comes in one color – a rich black.
Water/aqua/eau, cyclopentasiloxane, oryza sativa (rice) bran wax, hydrogenated olive oil stearyl esters, stearic acid, cera carnauba/copernicia cerifera (carnauba) wax/cire de carnauba, alcohol denat., propylene glycol, triethanolamine, candelilla cera/euphorbia cerifera (candelilla) wax/cire de candelilla, acacia senegal gum, VP/VA copolymer, phenoxyethanol, polyvinyl alcohol, panthenol, aminomethyl propanediol, ascorbyl palmitate, ethylhexylglycerin, kaolin, iron oxides (CI 77499).
Tarte Gifted Mascara Review
The one thing I love about the Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara is that you get results fast. You don’t need to build this one up to achieve dramatic results – two swipes and you’ll see a dramatic increase in volume, plus a lot of length. There’s also little to no clumping – the formula glides on smoothly and evenly, and keeps lashes separated.
In terms of longevity, the Tarte Gifted mascara easily lasts 12+ hours (thanks to the Amazonian clay!). At the end of the day, I was surprised to find the same volume and length as when I had first applied it. The Gifted mascara also holds curl amazing well, which is one thing I’ve always struggled with – I often find myself re-curling my lashes halfway through the day, but not with this one!
Tarte Gifted Mascara Before & After
Here are the before and after photos (after two coats of Tarte Gifted Mascara):
The one downside is that the formula can make your lashes feel quite stiff, but then again, that’s pretty typical for a long-wearing, curl-holding mascara (and a small sacrifice for the results you get!).
Overall, if you’re looking for a dramatic and long-lasting mascara that treats your lashes at the same time, I would absolutely recommend giving Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara a try. You can find it online at Sephora, QVC, Amazon, and Tarte for around $21.
