The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask
The Body Shop’s Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask is an exfoliating gel mask formulated to revive and energize tired, stressed skin. It features the well-known superfood Acai berry, which works to invigorate skin and fight the appearance of fatigue. Acai is also rich in antioxidants and vitamins to help boost the immune system, repairing and preventing further damage. Meanwhile, Babassu oil helps to hydrate and soften skin, and prevent moisture loss. After each use, the Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask claims to improve skin texture by giving it a more refined, clearer and healthier look.
- Acai berry
- Guarana seed extract
- Community Trade Babassu Oil from Brazil
How to Use
Apply on clean skin using a brush or your fingers. Smooth on an even layer of the Amazonian Acai mask onto the face, as well as the neck and décolletage if desired. Avoid the eye and lip area. Leave the mask on for 5-10 minutes, then use warm water and a muslin cloth (or regular wash cloth) to gently exfoliate and remove the mask, using circular motions all around the face. Use 2 to 3 times a week for best results.
The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask Review
Formula – Just as you might expect from how it appears in the pot, the Amazonian Acai face mask’s formula is a thin, almost jelly-like texture. It has a very juicy scent that I personally love, which lingers on the skin the whole time too, making it a very spa-like experience!
Application – The application is quick and easy, both with and without a brush. The formula really sticks to the skin and even offers some exfoliation as you apply it. I did notice some very light stinging, most likely from the citric acid, but it wasn’t anything uncomfortable.
Like most of The Body Shop Superfood masks, removal does take some effort. A few splashes of water isn’t going to cut it – you really need to use a washcloth to get rid of all the product, otherwise it will leave your face feeling sticky.
Results – For me, the biggest benefit of The Body Shop’s Amazonian Acai Mask is in its exfoliating abilities. After just one use, my skin felt so much smoother – I had to stop myself from touching my face all day! The second thing I noticed was an added ‘radiance’. The exfoliation really seemed to helped energize my skin and increase circulation, hence giving it a healthy, glowy effect that lasted into the next day.
Compared to The Body Shop’s other Superfood exfoliating mask (the Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Mask) the Amazonian Acai mask’s exfoliating granules are a bit finer and hence gentler on the skin. Another plus is that it’s so much more hydrating, which makes it particularly great for drier skin types, while the Charcoal mask is more drying and hence better for normal to oily skin types.
Overall, if you’re ever having one of those days where your skin just looks dull or has lost its glow, The Body Shop Amazonian Acai Energising Radiance Mask makes for a quick and effective pick-me-up. The gentle exfoliating granules smooth out the skin and increase circulation for a healthy glow.
Unlike the Charcoal Purifying Mask, the Amazonian Acai Mask also offers an extra dose of hydration to help replenish and balance, making it particularly great for those with combination or dry skin AND my new go-to multi-tasking mask for the fall and winter!
