RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up | Review, Swatches, Demo

RMS Beauty "Un" Cover-Up

After hearing rave reviews about RMS Beauty and their range of all-natural, creamy, and amazingly versatile formulas, I decided it was time to try some of their makeup out for myself and see what all the hype was about.  So I headed over to The Detox Market, and picked up a bunch of samples, only to find myself falling in love with everything. Today, I wanted to share my review of their multi-tasking cream concealer that I’ve been wearing everyday now as both a concealer and foundation – the RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up.

RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up

RMS Beauty’s “Un” Cover-Up is a multi-tasking cream concealer that hides blemishes and dark circles through an intensely pigmented, oil-based formula.  It settles to a gorgeous glowy, healthy sheen that creates a subtle brightening effect.  Formulated with nourishing oils and butters, it also smooths and replenishes skin, and easily stands out as one of the most hydrating concealers on the market.

How to Apply

RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up is extremely versatile.  It can be used as concealer, foundation, and even a contour.  It’s best to apply the formula with your fingers for optimal, seamless blending, but you can also use a foundation brush if you prefer (synthetic preferably).  For contouring, grab a darker shade (2-3 shades deeper than your skintone) and blend it in wherever you want extra definition.

Shade Selection

The shade options continue to expand – here are their current offerings:

  • 000:  The lightest shade of “un” cover-up for fair skin.
  • 00: A light shade for the true snow whites.
  • 11: A pale shade with a subtle yellow base.
  • 22: Yellow-based shade that works well for light-medium skin tones.
  • 33: A slightly warm tan color.
  • 44: A darker tan color. (Can be used for creating a tanned effect or for contouring.)
  • 55: Warm golden tan

RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up colors are said to self-adjust to your skin tone if they are not an exact match, thanks to the mineral pigments they use.  For reference, shades 11 and 22 both work well on me (I have light-medium skin, NC25 in MAC).  I’ll typically use 11 for my concealer (for a brighter look), and 22 for my foundation.

RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up Review

The first thing that stands out to me about the RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up is its ultra-creamy texture – it’s like a moisturizer, only with added pigments, and applies like one, too.  The creators recommend using your fingers for the best application, which is exactly the method I find works best.  With the added warmth, the oils and butters heat up, allowing the formula to spread more smoothly and evenly over the skin. “Un” Cover-Up is also very pigmented – it only takes a small amount of product to get great coverage, and one light coat is really all you need.

One of the best things about this concealer is it’s organic coconut oil base.  It moisturizes and nourishes the eye area, which becomes increasingly important as we age. And even though it’s oil-based, the RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-Up isn’t greasy feeling and doesn’t crease as I wear it throughout the day.  Other bloggers have mentioned that you need to set this one, and while that may be the case for some, I personally have not had any issues with it budging as the day goes on.

“Un” Cover-Up also works beautifully as a foundation.  Even though it’s quite pigmented and thick, it can easily be spread and blended out for sheerer coverage.  It quickly becomes ‘one with your skin’ – it feels weightless and looks completely natural.  It also minimizes the appearance of pores, evens skintone, and keeps the skin hydrated and smooth. I find it so hydrating that I tend to slab it on my drier areas without hesitation – I love how the formula doesn’t cling to dry spots, but instead smooths them out.

Due to the sheen this gives off though, if you’re going full-face, you may want to set it with a light dusting of powder if the ‘glowy’ look isn’t what you’re going for.  Otherwise, when used on it’s own, “Un” Cover-Up adds a dewy, luminous finish to the skin that highlights with a soft glow.

Wearing RMS Beauty ‘Un’ Cover-Up in shade 11, applied over bare skin under the eyes, and on nose and tops of cheeks.  No setting powder used. (For reference, I have combination skin – oily on my cheeks and T-zone, dry to normal everywhere else.)

Overall, if you’re looking for an ultra-nourishing, richly pigmented concealer from the clean beauty realm, the RMS Beauty ‘Un’ Cover-Up is a must-have.  Especially for those with dry skin or dry spots, this concealer helps combat the ‘flaky’ look that other drier formulas so often create.  (For oily skin types though, just be aware that you may need to use a setting powder with this one.)  No matter your skin type, RMS Beauty ‘Un’ Cover-Up helps us achieve naturally radiant skin through non-toxic, all-natural, organic, skin-loving ingredients!
