Onomie A.C.E. Illuminating Eye Treatment | Review & Demo

Onomie A.C.E. Illuminating Eye Treatment review, swatches 01

My summer makeup routine has been very minimal this past month.  So much so that I haven’t been experimenting with too many new beauty products.  As we enter into August, all I’ve been reaching for most days is mascara, concealer, and a cream color and/or luminizer for some extra pop.  One that falls under the latter that’s been a welcome addition to my minimalist, quick and easy summer routine is yet another favorite from Onomie – their A.C.E. Illuminating Eye Treatment.  It has quite a few uses that one may not expect!

If you haven’t read my reviews of Onomie’s Boosting Lip + Cheek Sticks or Bright Concealing Elixir, then here’s a quick rundown on the brand.  For one, they’re all about multi-functional beauty products that combine both makeup and skincare into one.  Their formulas are packed with complexion-boosting vitamins and natural plant extracts that work to help improve skin’s texture and appearance overtime.

Onomie’s A.C.E. Illuminating Eye Treatment in particular works as a treatment for the eye area with a triple-blend of skin-loving, antioxidant-rich vitamins – A, C, & E.  Together, they help brighten skin, reduce dark spots, improve skin texture, and hydrate and protect skin from free radicals, gradually reducing smooth fine lines overtime with daily use.

And when it comes to the makeup benefits, the A.C.E. Illuminating Eye Treatment uses micro pearlescent shimmer to instantly wake up the skin, and create a subtle, natural radiance.

Packaged in a lightweight, purse-friendly tube, it takes up almost no space in a makeup bag, and also makes for the perfect travel companion – bring it to work for some on-the-go sprucing up, or in your carry-on to wake up the eyes after a long flight.  And the best part?  It has a pump so the product (and all those precious ingredients) stay protected and in tact, and free of dust and other particles.

The Onomie A.C.E. Illuminating Eye Treatment is currently available in three shades to suit a range of skin tones.  They include:

  • Lovelace, a pale pink pearl (great for fair to medium skin)
  • Piscopia, a neutral champagne (great for warm light-medium to darker skin tones)
  • Curie, a warm copper (great for darker skin tones)

Here are swatches of all three…

Onomie A.C.E. Illuminating Eye Treatment Review

To be honest, I wasn’t sure how to use this product at first.  Seeing that it was an ‘eye treatment’ (and not having read the directions on the box or the website initially), I thought it might be something to apply under Onomie’s Bright Concealing Elixir as a first step to smooth out and brighten the eye area.  However, as I soon discovered while patting it rather heavily around my undereye, the formula is actually more of a highlighter – it’s packed with subtle shimmer, and according to the directions, is meant to be applied primarily to the outer orbital eye bone, tops of the cheekbones, brow bone, and out towards the temple.  Regardless, after a little more experimentation, I actually started to like the look of it all over – applied very lightly under the eyes, on the eyelids, and in the inner corners, and then buildup for a more noticeable glow in a ‘C’ shape around the outside of the eyes.

Point is, you can really apply it however you want to!  As with almost all of Onomie’s products, they’re meant to be multi-functional.  The cream sticks, for example, can be used on the cheeks, temples, lips, and even as an eyeshadow or eyeshadow base.  Onomie’s A.C.E. Illuminating Eye Treatment is no exception – you can apply it not just around the eyes, but also anywhere else you want to highlight – the forehead, nose, cupid’s bow, etc.  It also works applied both under and over other makeup products – top over eyeshadow to add some shimmer, or use as an eyeshadow base to give your powders some extra pop; apply over your BB/CC cream or foundation, or under as a luminizing base.  And finally, it can also be mixed with other products – add a small amount to your foundation or concealer and apply for coverage + radiance in one quick step.

No matter how you choose to apply it, there’s little chance of error or ‘over-doing’ it as the formula is so lightweight and velvety smooth that it can be easily blended out for a more toned-down effect.  There’s also no heavy shimmer or glitter, just very fine shimmer that imparts a radiant yet natural glow.  I personally would have no issues wearing this to the office (in those situations, I’d apply about a half a pea size amount for a subtle brightening effect) all the way to a fun weekend event (in which case, I’d apply 2-3 layers, building up the pigment until it produces an almost strobe-like effect).

Once set, the part-cream, part-mousse formula leaves behind a satiny finish that’s not at all sticky, tacky, or slippery. I find that it blends evenly on both bare skin, as well as over other liquid and cream formulas.  It also lasts impressively long – I typically get around 8+ hours of wear with very minimal fading, even on my oilier areas.

Overall, Onomie has hit it out of the park again with another incredibly versatile, foolproof formula that’s perfect for any makeup minimalist!
