Makeup Meets Skincare in Onomie’s Boosting Lip + Cheek Sticks

Onomie Boosting Lip + Cheek Sticks review & swatches 237

I posted this review back in June, but wanted to do a little refresh as Onomie has released three new Boosting Lip + Cheek Sticks shades!  Keep reading to see the full collection swatched side-by-side, along with some demos where I try out all six shades!

Onomie Boosting Lip + Cheek Sticks

What’s unique about Onomie’s Boosting Lip + Cheek Sticks is that they function as both makeup and skincare.  Formulated with naturally-derived extracts like cacay oil, sunflower seed oil, and shea butter, they’re clinically proven to help promote microcirculation, soften fine lines, and boost collagen production over time.  They also work instantly to lightly hydrate, plump, and smooth the skin, creating a more youthful, fresher-looking complexion.

To top it off, as you’ll see from the swatches below, these sticks are packed with pigment, which you can use on the cheeks and the lips.

Add all this together, and you get the complete package for glowing, healthy skin, all in one travel-friendly little tube!

“Onomie was created to simplify beauty and maximize the benefits of individual beauty products, for women who recognize that beauty should not be complicated.”

Onomie’s Boosting Lip + Cheek Sticks are currently available in six shades to suit a range of skin tones.  They include:

  • Cruz, a cool berry (One of my personal favorites to use on the lips.)
  • Tamer, a neutral wine (One of my favorites for the cheeks. It’s also the most universally flattering shade of the six, in my opinion.)
  • Nightingale, a warm nude. (This shade could easily work as a bronzer for pale to light skintones.)
  • Caria, a warm pink nude
  • Aquitaine, a cool orchid
  • Rani, a warm red-orange

(You can grab three shades of your choice through Onomie’s Boosting Lip + Cheek Smart Trio and save $15!)

“We name our shades after female geniuses from history to honor the unsung women heroes of the past and inspire female leaders of the future.”

Onomie Boosting Lip + Cheek Stick Review

First off, I’m seriously blown away by how pigmented these sticks are.  One swipe blended out is all you need to achieve a noticeable, yet natural-looking flush on light to medium skin.  On deeper skin, an extra layer and light blending would create a beautiful amount of depth.

The same goes for the lips – one quick swipe provides rich, near-full coverage color.  This can then be smudged out to create a beautiful stained lip look (my favorite way to wear them – as you’ll see in the below photo!).  Alternatively, for a more subtle, sheerer lip look, you can use your finger to pick up the color from the stick, and then dab and blend onto the lips.

Formula-wise, these feel silky-smooth and slightly balmy right off the bat (they don’t need warmed up like other cream sticks I’ve tried). To me, they’re the perfect consistency to work for all skin types – they help smooth out dry skin, without being too creamy/slippery for oily skin types.  The stick glides across the cheeks without tugging, and using just the fingers, the color blends out beautifully to a seamless, even finish in literally seconds.  Even though they are very pigmented to start out, you can’t really mess these up as they almost completely sheer out with continuous blending.

Despite their balmy texture, these have impressive staying power.  On my combination skin (which has been on the oilier side most recently), they last all day without fading or becoming patchy.  Meanwhile, on the lips, I tend to get a good 4-5 hours of wear as they stain them just slightly (particularly the darker shades like Cruz), rather than sitting on top of them and transferring.
