Ole Henriksen POWER Bright Review

New from Ole Henriken is a power pack that you can use at home to get more youthful looking skin thanks to a potent amount of Vitamin C.  This revitalizing treatment mimics a facial and comes with everything you need to cleanse, scrub, treat, and hydrate, in three little pods.  Keep reading to learn a little bit about the system and how it works, followed by my overall Ole Henriksen POWER Bright review.

Ole Henriksen POWER Bright

Ole Henriksen POWER Bright is a professional-strength, three-step brightening system that features a high dose of vitamin C concentrate (25% to be exact) to deliver maximum benefits in as little as one use. By benefits, we’re talking brighter, even, and more youthful looking skin with fewer fine lines and wrinkles.

Each box contains six treatment sleeves, and within each sleeve are three numbered pods that hold the scrub, Vitamin C concentrate, and cleanser. It also comes with two complexion sponges to help with the product removal at the end of the treatment.

Recommended for: All skin tones, except for sensitive skin (those with sensitive skin should conduct a patch test before using).

“I love to empower skin to be the very best it can be, and that’s what Power Bright is all about.”—Ole Henriksen

How to Use Ole Henriksen POWER Bright

The Ole Henriksen POWER Bright system claims to deliver results in as little as 20 minutes.  It is recommended for use at night, at least once per week. For optimal results, it’s recommended that this system be used three times a week.

  • Step 1: Polish
    • Begin with the Truth Sugar Glow Polishing Mask.  It’s enriched with sugar, honey, and pomegranate seed powder to help polish away dull skin, for a smooth, radiant complexion.  Apply to clean, damp skin and leave on for 5 to 10 minutes. Then, apply warm water and gently massage in a circular motion for 30 seconds. Rinse clean and pat dry.
  • Step 2: Brighten
    • Apply the Truth 25% Vitamin C Concentrate onto dry skin, and leave on for two to three minutes (don’t rinse off).
  • Step 3: Glow
    • The Pure Truth Melting Cleanser is a three-in-one cleansing formula that nourishes skin using vitamin C, cherry seed, and rose hip seed oils.  It goes directly on top of the 25% Vitamin C Concentrate, where you leave it on for 10 to 15 minutes. Remove with a damp complexion sponge (included) or washcloth using lukewarm water, and swipe gently to remove all product.

Step one of the Ole Henriksen POWER Bright system is the Truth Sugar Glow Polishing Mask – a yummy fruit-scented polishing mask.  It consists of large bits of grainy sugar which can feel slightly rough on the skin if you scrub too hard.  But with gentle massaging, they glide along the skin with the help of the liquid, providing light exfoliation.

Step two of the Ole Henriksen POWER Bright system is to apply the Truth 25% Vitamin C Concentrate (which is either the same, or comparable to their Truth Serum).  This can get a little tingling (with some slight stinging that lasts about a minute).  I have to say, this is the most luxurious-feeling lotion/concentrate/serum that has ever touched my face!  It sort of feels like an ultra-rich, dense mousse.  As you apply it, it glides on super smooth, with a sort of silky, silicone-like texture.

The last step is to apply the Pure Truth Melting Cleanser over top of the vitamin C concentrate.   This cleanser is quite thick – it feels (and looks) sort of like honey or lemon jelly consistency-wise. Again, this smells amazing!  It feels more like a hydrating moisturizer rather than a cleanser – it’s super intense and hydrating.  It leaves the skin with a soft glowing look like you just applied some sort of olive, coconut, or argan oil to it.

My Results

After rinsing for 20 seconds and patting dry, the most noticeable, immediate difference was that my skin felt incredibly smooth and soft (I couldn’t stop touching my face – it hadn’t felt that smooth in a long time!).  It also felt super hydrated, even on it’s own without a post-moisturizer.  (I actually ended up skipping a moisturizer altogether to test the full effect, and never felt the need to go back and apply it.)  It left a satiny-smooth sheen to my skin, too, that gave it a radiant glow – very impressive for a quick treatment! (The photo below doesn’t really do it justice!)

Ole Henriksen POWER Bright before and after

Although my skin leans slightly on the more sensitive side, I didn’t experience any flushing or irritation after using the Ole Henriksen POWER Bright system.  There was definitely some stinging throughout the treatment, especially when it came time to rinse off both the Concentrate and Cleanser (it’s important to use using lukewarm-to-cool water to lessen the sting!).  However, it wasn’t anything too extreme or intolerable.

By the way, you can easily get two full uses out of these pods (I put them in a ziplock bag for storage after they were opened).  In fact, I had enough of step 1 for two uses, and enough of steps 2 & 3 for three uses (which is great since you need to use these together).

Final Thoughts

The way I see it, for $55 (the price of a facial, actually a little less) you get 6 of what are essentially mini-facials in every Ole Henriksen POWER Bright package.  That’s less than $10 a treatment, which comes close to the price of a facial sheet mask (only I find the results of this system go far beyond any sheet mask – or at least the 10 or so I’ve tried)!  Each treatment features amazingly juicy scents, luxurious feeling textures, and mostly importantly, noticeable results that you can feel and see!
