When the night is calling, and my boyfriend simply throws on a tee and jeans and is all set to go (oh how I envy the guys…), here’s a little routine I like to follow when I find myself greasy-haired, bare-faced, and only half dressed (while the bf is standing in the doorway waiting for me to get ready…). Fortunately, this quick and minimal routine only takes 5 minutes tops…
Brows. Fill them in with a pencil, pluck the strays, and you’re done. If you miss some of the sparser areas here and there, it’s no big deal – just play it off as if it’s a fake scar and rock it like Charlie Puth. 😉
Face. Start with a liquid concealer and apply lightly under the eyes. For the quickest foundation application, go with powder. (I have dry skin and once feared it, but now it’s pretty much all I ever use. If you fall under that skin type too, the key is to find a lightweight, moisturizing formula – I highly recommend Everyday Mineral’s Jojoba base powder foundation.) Next, apply a cool-toned blush. Then to add bit of glow back into our skin, spritz with a hydrating setting spray.
Eyes. An essential for a edgy look these days. When I’m in a rush, I find pencil works best – most formulas give you room to smudge and even fix mistakes. Grab your favorite black pencil liner, or go with something different like a forest green, electric blue, vibrant purple, or metallics. Finish by layering on black volumizing mascara.
Lips. When wearing a bolder eye look, I like to pair it with a more understated lip – think ‘my-lips-but-better’ shades. One of my personal favorites at the moment is Lovecraft by Kat Von D.
Hair. Sprinkle a little dry shampoo into your hair, tousle, and then do a quick throw over for a ‘no-part’ look that will give you tons of volume. A little leftover oil from the day is fine too. 😉
Jewelry. Add a choker and some dark metal studs and you’re all set…
