What it Does

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo comes with not one but two shades that can be used either alone or blended together to create a customized shade.

As described on Sephora‘s website, the powder claims it does the following:

“Create beautiful and natural brow effects with Anastasia’s bestselling Brow Powder Duo. This lightweight, sheer to medium coverage formula was designed to be smudge-proof and comes with two shades per compact to ensure the perfect brow color.”

Finding the Perfect Shade

I did a lot of research before ultimately purchasing this product – not just to make sure that I was investing my money in a good quality product, but also to make sure I was choosing the right shade for my brows (both in color and tint).  It seemed that a lot of makeup artists recommended going as light as possible when choosing a shade to fill in the brows in order to achieve the most natural look (which I am all about).

With that in mind, I went for the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo shade in Medium Brown, which is described as a “taupe based brown” – not too dark (like the Ebony shade), but not too light – perfect for my dark brown, almost black brows.  Medium Brown consists of two cooler-toned brown shades including “Medium Ash” and “Medium Brown”.

Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo Review

Overall, I’m very impressed with the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo.  First, I like that it comes with the two shades that you can mix together to form a custom shade, or use for different purposes.   For example, I like to use the lighter one to fill in the entire brow, and a darker one to sort of fill in the sparser areas.

I’m also impressed with the formula, longevity, and overall ‘hold’ of the powder.  They apply nicely, even over my scar (which has always been a struggle of mine, especially when using drugstore brands).  What’s also great is that the formula really ‘sticks’ to the skin and doesn’t easily rub off.  In fact, I find it to be a bit water resistant (I won’t come off if you splash your face with water, and sometimes lasts me while swimming!).

The Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo also offers a wide range of shades to fit everyone’s brow color, with both warmer and ashier-toned colors. Below, I’m using the ‘Medium Brown‘ duo, which is offers two taupe-brown shades that are fairly neutral toned.

Before (top) & after (bottom) – Applied the darkest shade in the ‘Medium Brown‘ duo

In the bottom ‘after’ photo, you’ll notice the powder comes across looking very natural once applied.  It added some extra ‘fullness’ where I needed it most, especially in the area around my brow arch (the Anastasia Beverly Hills Brow Powder Duo does an excellent job of staying put on the scar I have there!)

Lastly, the price is decent ($23.00) considering that the powder is very pigmented and will last you for a while (I’ve used it for about 3 weeks now and haven’t made a dent in the pan!).

Available at Sephora, Amazon, & Nordstrom

Note: One thing you’ll notice is that the packaging has since changed, but the formula and shade descriptions are still the same.  Here’s what the new containers look like:
