The Fruit-Pigmented Sex Kitten Palette from 100% Pure | Review & Demo

100 percent pure sex kitten palette review, swatches

100% Pure is one of my favorite green beauty brands – a majority of their makeup and skincare products are made with 100% natural and vegan ingredients, and everything is cruelty-free.  But what’s most impressive to me is their ability to create everything from satin cream eyeshadows to ultra-vibrant lip colors, all using antioxidant and vitamin-packed fruit and vegetable pigments instead of synthetic dyes or minerals, giving you skin-loving makeup and skincare all rolled into one.

I’ve tried quite a few products from 100% Pure – from their creamy nail polishes to their tinted moisturizers.  Today however, I’m going to be review a variety of powder products, all packed inside one of their travel-friendly natural makeup palettes.  Here’s my review of the palette that caught my eye for its cooler tones and edgier shades – their Sex Kitten palette.

100% Pure Sex Kitten Palette Review

The Sex Kitten palette is designed to go from day to night with palette-exclusive blush, highlight, and eyeshadow shades.  All three of the powder formulas are 100% natural, vegan, and cruelty-free.

Breaking down the value, the three eyeshadows are all the same size as 100% Pure’s full-size single shadows (0.07 oz / 2 g), which retail for $20 a piece.  The blush and luminescent powders are each roughly half the size of 100% Pure’s full-size powders (4 g vs 9 g for a full-size), which gives them a value of $16 a piece.  Add that all up, and that’s $92 worth of product for half the price.

Keep on reading for a closer look at the powders inside, followed by my review of each.

From left to right: Luminescent powder in ‘Sexy’, Blush in ‘Allure’, Powder eye shadows in ‘Risque’, ‘Provocateur’, & ‘Cat Eyes’

Luminescent powder in ‘Sexy’ – First up, we have what is one of the most natural-looking luminizing powders I’ve come across so far.  It adds a soft candlelit glow to the face through slightly cool-toned white pigments and super fine mica – there’s no glitter or heavy shimmer.  The formula is silky-smooth, applies effortlessly, and creates a soft focus, subtly radiant effect on the skin.

Blush in ‘Allure’ – Allure is a matte bubblegum pink that adds the prettiest pop of color to the cheeks.  Similar to the luminescent powder, it has a very silky texture that applies and blends out beautifully.  It starts out somewhat sheer, but can be easily built up (I’ll typically use 2-3 layers on my cheeks to get the coverage you see in the photos below).

Powder eye shadows in ‘Risque’, ‘Provocateur’, & ‘Cat Eyes’ – Lastly, the Sex Kitten palette includes three coordinated powder eyeshadows.  The lightest shade – ‘Risque’ – offers the best pigmentation out of the three, reaching near full coverage with just one swipe.  It’s a gorgeous yellow-ivory with an almost metallic finish that works beautifully as an inner corner highlight.  The two darker shades however – ‘Provocateur’ and ‘Cat Eyes’ – are a bit lacking.  They’re very powdery and start out quite sheer (it took 3-4 layers to achieve the intensity shown in the above swatches and below photos).  If you’re into more subtle eye looks, they do the job.  However, for that more dramatic ‘sex kitten’ look, it’s best to break out the primer.

Before & After

Here’s a little demo where I used all the products in the palette.  I applied the blush and luminescent powder on the cheeks, along with the ‘Provocateur’ eyeshadow on the lid and in the crease, ‘Cat Eyes’ in the outer v, and ‘Risque’ in the inner corners.  (No eyeshadow primer was used on the lids).

Love the subtle highlight – the soft pink blush pairs so well with it too!

Overall, if you’re new to 100% Pure and want to try a little sampling of their products, their natural makeup palettes are worth checking out, especially if you’re a fan of natural makeup looks and sheerer, buildable formulas.
