Privé Revaux’s The Hepburn sunglasses

We’re coming around to the end of the summer soon, but let’s be honest, a good pair of sunnies come in handy all year round – whether you’re on the ski slopes, headed to a beach vacay in winter, or need to make a quick run to the 7-11 and just can’t be bothered with putting on makeup.  If you’re in need of some new shades, but don’t want to break the bank, then you may want to take a little browse through Privé Revaux’s

Privé Revaux is a relatively new brand, and recent discovery of mine that I’m can’t stop visiting every few weeks to scope out new styles.  Not only do they offer some of the chicest, on-trend sunnies, they’re also super affordable – each pair is only $29.95!  Similar to Warby Parker, they’re able to price their glasses at lower, budget-friendly prices by cutting out the middle men (i.e. the distributors and glasses shops), and shipping your shades directly to you from the manufacturer.

“We believe everyone should have access to high-quality, beautifully designed eyewear at an affordable price, because sunglasses are an expression of personal style.”

And there’s plenty of options to choose from – Privé Revaux currently has over 100 handcrafted frame designs, all built to last with scratch resistant frames and lenses.  The pairs also feature polarized lenses that provide 100% UVA/UVB Protection (UV 400), and they’re finished off with anti-glare coating.

I recently placed an order through their website, just to try out some of their shade styles. Here’s a look at what I picked up, along with my thoughts on each – style and quality-wise.

“Each of the 100+ Privé styles is named to evoke a persona, from The Artist and The Socialite, to The Boss and The Godfather, all to show that everyone can be anyone when you reframe yourself with Privé Revaux.”

The Hepburn

The Hepburn are the first pair I fell in love with – I just adore a clean and simple vintage cat-eye.  Quality-wise, the polycarbonate resin frames feel sturdy and look especially gorgeous with the semi-transparent tortoise detailing on the purple pair I’m wearing here.  They’re also lightweight and sit very comfortably on the face.  Plus, they’re the perfect size for those of us with smaller-sized faces!

The Mister

The Mister are a slightly trendier and ‘elevated’ version of your classic cat-eye sunglasses.  The angles over the temples are much more exaggerated, and as you can see, the frames themselves are a quite large as well (a bit too large for my sized face sadly).  Overall, I’m loving their sexy, retro vibes, and am especially digging this Cherry Red color.  Just like The Hepburns, these feel fairly solid, lightweight, and comfy!

The Candy

The Candy sunglasses play on another vintage style – this time, from the 90’s (or was that their second run?).  I actually remember owning a similar pair back it elementary school, when my cute round face looked good wearing just about anything.  Now though?  Not so much…  However, if you’re lucky enough to pull off this style, give these a shot.  Thanks to their super thin frames, they’re super comfy and almost feel barely-there.  They also come in a range of colors, including pink, red, purple, and yellow.

Overall, I’m really loving Privé Revaux’s sunglasses styles, and the quality is amazing for the price.  While they may not meet the craftsmanship levels of Ray-Bans and other high-end brands in the $100+ range, they aren’t very far off.  The lenses may be a bit thinner and the hinges not quite as robust, however, if you can get past those finer technical details, they have quite a few things going for them…

For one, the lens quality is great.  A majority (if not all) are polarized, and they look sharp and crystal clear.  The resin frames also feel pretty solid and substantial, plus they – along with the thinner stainless steel frames – are scratch-resistant.  (I tested this out with my keys – yikes, I know – and the scratches were barely noticeable.  The rose gold coating was also left completely in tact.)

The best part about Privé Revaux’s sunglasses?  Considering the prices are so low, you can play around with different styles and build a unique, versatile collection without spending hundreds in the process.  And shopping for them couldn’t be easier – they ship free on Amazon with Prime, and returns are free as well!
