Love Goodly October / November 2018 Review & Unboxing

Love Goodly October/November 2018 Review 001

I can’t believe it’s October already!  It’s around 8pm right now and already pitch dark outside!  The days are getting cloudier and grayer, and I’ve been bundling up in sweaters and jackets already.

One thing that tends to brighten up my day around this time of year is getting a little package in the mail – especially when it’s one of my favorite green beauty subscription boxes.  I love the whole ‘surprise’ factor, and ultimately discovering cleaner, healthier, and more eco-friendly alternatives to swap out with my current go-to products.  And that’s exactly what I found inside the Love Goodly box for October/November.   If you’re new to Love Goodly, here’s a quick summary of how their subscription service works:

Love Goodly is a bi-monthly subscription box that brings you 4-5 beauty and lifestyle items, all non-toxic, vegan, and cruelty-free.  Their curated picks focus primarily on skincare, body care, and makeup products, though occasionally they’ll include 1-2 jewelry, accessory, home decor, and/or snack items.  Everything item is full size and total box value always exceeds $80.  The box ships to the US for $29.95 bi-monthly and Canada for $44.90 bi-monthly.

In addition to delivering an amazing selection of cruelty-free and non-toxic products every other month, Love Goodly donates a portion of each sale toward a worthy cause (which you can read more about here on their website).  This Love Goodly box supports Cancer Support Community Los Angeles (CSCLA), a non-profit with a mission to “ensure that all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by actions and sustained by community”.

Now let’s take a peek inside!

“The average woman uses 168 chemicals in their personal care every day and up to 60% of what we put on our skin gets absorbed into our bloodstream.  We created our bimonthly subscription boxes so you can discover nontoxic beauty, eco lifestyle and wellness products at a great price.”

Love Goodly October/November 2018 Review

The October/November 2018 Love Goodly box features four full-sized beauty & lifestyle products, including one skincare product, two oral hygiene products, and one classy vegan leather accessory.  Keep reading for the full rundown!

Graydon Skincare Green Cream review 001

Graydon Skincare Green Cream (Value: $38) – Chlorophyll is one of those miracle ingredients when it comes to skincare – it has incredible acne-fighting abilities and antioxidant properties.  This cream is packed with these little green fighting machines, along with other powerful phytonutrients found in broccoli, avocado, olive, and aloe.  The formula itself feels lightweight and non-greasy, and features an herbal blend of essential oils – including parsley, sage, rosemary and thyme – that awaken both the skin and senses.  It’s suitable for all skin types, but probably not the best for very dry skin – I’ll likely need to layer this up in the coming months with a richer facial oil to keep my skin happy.

Bite Toothpaste Bits review 001

Plus Ultra Brush Smile Repeat Toothbrush (Value: $6.99) – If you haven’t made the switch to a bamboo toothbrush, it’s time!  Not only are they more environment-friendly to produce compared to plastic ones, they also biodegrade more quickly and more safely, as opposed to just sitting in landfills or contaminating our oceans.  These brushes in particular are made from 100% organically grown, sustainable bamboo, and the packaging is eco-friendly and made from sustainable materials as well.  The one thing you may have to get used to are the softer bristles, as well as a lack of those rubber ‘gum scrubbers’ and other fancy extras.  However, they still provide a great clean and are also much gentler on the gums.  And paired up with a good toothpaste, you’re set!  Speaking of which…

Also available on Amazon

Bite Toothpaste Bits in Mint (Value: $12) – To pair up with the toothbrush, the Love Goodly team included an interesting  toothpaste alternative.  These tiny toothpaste tablets contain naturally whitening mint along with peppermint oil to freshen breath.  I tried one out this evening and was very impressed!  It foamed enough to get a good lather and left my teeth feeling squeaky clean and also noticeably whitener (I had to do a double take in the mirror – it couldn’t believe the difference)!  The mint wasn’t too strong either, which is a plus for me.  Beyond performance, these tablets are travel-friendly (and TSA-approved – heck you could even pack a few in a ziplock, contact lens case, or pill box to really lighten your toiletries bag!). Bottled in a glass jar instead of a plastic tube, they’re also much better for the environment!

Pixie Mood Carol Card Case review 002Pixie Mood Carol Card Case review 001

Pixie Mood Carol Card Case (Value $25) – Pixie Mood offers a gorgeous range of handbags, backpacks, work bags, wallets and more – all 100% vegan.  In this month’s box, they sent subscribers 1 of 3 styles – either the Quinn Card Wallet, Carol Card Case, or Jana Passport Wallet. I received the Carol Card Case, which has three thin slots for cards plus a larger pocket on the inside.  Despite being made out of vegan leather, it actually looks like real leather texture-wise, and has the same soft, rich feel.  It comes in all sorts of colors too – from a pale minty green to metallic camo patterns.  I will definitely be checking out more from this brand (I already have my eye on their Sylvia bag – love all those compartments!).
