The Goodbeing Non-Toxic Beauty Box: May 2018 Review & Unboxing

goodbeing may 2018 review 6

“A woman is the full circle.  Within her is the power to create, nurture and transform.” – Diane Mariechild

We’re coming up to the end of May already, so I thought it would be the perfect time to share my Goodbeing box and wrap up my clean beauty subscription boxes for the month (the other of which – May’s Petit Vour box – I shared here).

If you’re new to Goodbeing, you can find out more about their natural beauty, non-toxic lifestyle subscription boxes here, or explore some of my previous boxes here.

For May, I opted for another full-on beauty box (as opposed to their beauty & lifestyle box).  Inside were two of my own product picks, plus four additional products selected by the Goodbeing team, based on my member profile.  Here’s a look at everything inside my box for this month…

Gypsy Woman Solid Perfume review

Gypsy Woman Solid Perfume (Full size, Value: $25) – I have a thing for botanical, natural perfumes (I even wrote a post about some of my favorite niche perfume shops, which you can read here.) So when I saw this as a product option for the May box, I had to grab it! It’s just as magical as the name and description suggests – it’s an earthy, woodsy aroma that mixes the scent of ‘fresh soil, deep forests and warm campfires’, which unfolds in layers. Rubbed into the wrists, it gradually warms up and gives off a very discreet, subtle scent that only you and those closest to you can smell (so it’s very office-friendly!).

K Voss Lip Lover Scrub review 1

K Voss Lip Lover Scrub (Full size, Value: $28) – This has got to be the biggest tub of lip scrub I’ve ever seen (most scrubs are under 1 oz – this one is 2 oz!).  But that’s not to say that I won’t be using it all up.  Packed with finely-ground demerra sugar and organic pumice, it provides a gentle but very thorough amount of exfoliation.  It feels a lot like smooth sand – not at all coarse or rough like the average lip scrub.   At the same time, raw coconut oil, vitamin E, and almond oil help nourish and hydrate the lips.  The only downside?  It’s not the most ‘lick-able’ scrub out there due to the pumice, but that still hasn’t stopped me from using it non-stop!

Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Luminous Lip Crayon in Malibu 1

Juice Beauty Phyto-Pigments Luminous Lip Crayon in Malibu (Full size, Value: $22) – As a makeup minimalist (and dry lip sufferer), I’m obsessed with this lip crayon.  For one, it’s super easy to apply – you don’t even need to use a mirror.  The formula is also incredibly moisturizing and instantly smooths out my lips, so it doubles as a lip balm.  Thirdly, like the rest of Juice Beauty’s range of makeup and skincare, it contains organic, plant-based ingredients which also gives it its pigment (through a blend of rose, eggplant, moringa and eclipta daisy).  And speaking of color, the Malibu shade is the perfect ‘my-lips-but-better’ shade – it’s a nude pink that I imagine would be flattering for all skin tones.

Aila Nail Lacquer in Bless Your Heart swatch 9

Aila Nail Lacquer in Bless Your Heart (Full size, Value: $14) – This is my first time trying out Aila, and I have to say, I’m pretty impressed. For starters, the formula is 11-free, meanings it’s free of not 3, not 5, but 11 harmful toxins often found in conventional formulas. It’s also richly pigmented (two coats is all you need for full-coverage), fast-drying, and supposedly chip-resistant and long-lasting (though it’s too early for me to comment on that). I’m loving the shade ‘Bless Your Heart’ – it’s a deep, slightly muted peachy rose that has a very vintage, feminine feel.

Also available at Petit Vour & Amazon

Aila 3-in-1 Soy Based Nail Color Remover Cloths review 1

Aila 3-in-1 Soy Based Nail Color Remover Cloths (Sample size, Value: ~$1) – To complement the nail polish, Goodbeing included one of Aila’s nail polish remover cloths.  Not only do these remove color using 100% natural, plant-based ingredients (that’s right – no chemicals!), it also hydrates and nourishes the nails and cuticles through a blend of vitamins A, C, & E and pure argan oil.  I used the one sample cloth to remove my leftover polish before applying the Bless Your Heart color above, and while it didn’t work as efficiently as my acetone-based remover, it left my nails (and skin) residue-free, moisturized, and very healthy looking.  I could definitely see myself using these for travel, instead of lugging around my regular polish remover and cuticle oil.

Also available on Amazon; full size bottle available on Amazon & Petit Vour

Shamanuti Sun Butter Creme (Sample size, Value: ~$2) – This is the perfect pre-sun moisturizer.  It contains UV blocking ingredients (including zinc, titanium dioxide & B vitamins), while at the same time, it moisturizes the skin to help create a natural sun damage buffer. The formula feels incredibly lightweight and absorbs quickly, making it quick and easy to apply before heading out into the sun.
