When it comes to budget-beauty, e.l.f. comes in at the top of my list for not only being super affordable (we’re talking $1-$4 products), but also 100% vegan and cruelty-free.
I reviewed their Moisturizing Lipsticks a little over a year ago, and have since added their brightest reds to my collection – Velvet Rope and Orange Dream – two perfect shades for spring and summer!

Orange Dream
Orange Dream is a vibrant orange-red. It’s quite pigmented, and builds up to opaque coverage in just 1 (pretty heavy) swipe. Orange Dream is very warm, with a yellow base – I imagine it would look great on medium to deep warm/olive-based skintones.
Velvet Rope
Velvet Rope is a medium coral-rose. The formula starts off semi-sheer, then builds up to opaque coverage after 2-3 swipes. It’s not as bright nor as warm as Orange Dream, making it slightly more wearable and also compatible with a wider range of skintones (even those leaning on the cooler side). I personally prefer Velvet Rope over Orange Dream, only because I find it suits my light-medium neutral skintone a whole lot better. It also has more of a glossy finish compared to Orange Dream.
