Curél Hydrate Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer (1 of 1)

Since I was a teen, my dry skin has been a constant struggle. Not only does my skin always seem to feel tight and uncomfortable, it also has the look to match.  I’m talking about that dry, desert-like appearance that doesn’t exactly complement a cute pair of shorts or short-sleeve shirts. (Two of my favorite things to wear by the way.  The latter, all year round).

Sure, I’ve tried making lifestyle changes like drinking loads more water, taking daily fish oil supplements, switching from hot to… coolwarm… slightly less hot showers (that didn’t last long), and applying lotions and potions of all sorts. In the end, nothing seemed to provide relief, nor fit seamlessly into my daily routine, so my search continued…

To my surprise, I’m not the only one struggling with dry skin in the blogosphere.  Here’s an interesting infographic that illustrates how me plus 39 other bloggers feel about our dry skin, and how it affects our day-to-day lives:

Then, fairly recently I was introduced to Curél Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer. Having tried other in-shower treatments in the past that were either too greasy or just plain ineffective, I was skeptical.

Then I read a little bit more around how Curél Hydra Therapy actually works.  It turns out that while other moisturizers provide temporary hydration, Curél’s in-shower formula targets dryness long-term.  How?  By taking into account two important aspects of our skin: one, that optimal moisture absorption occurs when skin is wet, and two that ceramides are key to maintaining its moisture barrier.

Through Curél Hydra Therapy’s Wet Skin Moisturizer’s water activated and ceramide-rich formula, it in fact takes a more complete approach to combating dry skin, versus other lotions (including in-shower ones) currently on the market.

How does Curél Hydra Therapy work?
After showering or bathing, your pores are opened up, providing an easy pathway for moisture to absorb (imagine your skin working sort of like a sponge). When Curél Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer is applied on wet skin, it absorbs immediately and penetrates deep into the skin’s surface to bring moisture directly to the source of dryness to deliver more lasting hydration.

What are Ceramides?
Ceramides are vital, natural building blocks in our skin and are key to maintaining its moisture barrier. When they are missing, our skin becomes dry and damaged. The Curél Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer was created to help restore and replenish our skin’s ceramide levels, ultimately repairing its moisture barrier for healthier, more hydrated skin long-term.

How do you use the Curél Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer?
Right after showering/bathing and while you’re skin is still wet, apply Curél Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer generously all over your body, making sure to hit your driest bits (knees, elbows, etc). There’s no need to rinse it off or wait – you can immediately pat-dry your skin with a towel.  For best results, they recommend using it daily – I think once you see how well it works, you’ll be hooked, just as I was!

Why I Love It…
First off, I love how easy it is to apply. While other lotions (even in-shower treatments) often feel greasy and take time to absorb, this one has a lightweight, creamy consistency that glides on smoothly, making it super quick and easy to spread. It also absorbs in seconds, with zero greasy residue left behind.

After toweling off, the Curél Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer leaves my skin feeling so much more hydrated than other lotions, even in-shower ones that I’ve tried in the past.  (Plus, it doesn’t have to be rinsed off, nor does it leave a film over my skin like the Nivea In-Shower Body Lotion.)  After using Curél Hydra Therapy, my skin looks healthier, and feels softer and smoother. Best of all, the effects last all day – even on my driest areas like my legs and arms!

Overall, Curél’s Hydra Therapy in-shower moisturizer has become an essential for keeping my skin looking and feeling healthy. Not only is it easy to incorporate into my daily routine (just one extra step in the shower), there’s virtually no wait time for it absorb and no greasy residue, plus it leaves my skin feeling hydrated, smooth, and comfortable throughout the day!
