Bobbi Brown is sort of my makeup god. Back in middle school and high school (and before Youtube was around) her book ‘Teenage Beauty: Everything You Need to Look Pretty, Natural, Sexy and Awesome‘ was my beauty bible. It’s what nailed down my whole natural beauty philosophy at an early age. Heck, it even gave me a confidence boost when it was probably at the lowest point in my life by driving home the idea that being ‘beautiful’ is less about fitting a mold, and more about feeling 100% comfortable and confident in our own looks. And her makeup advice, and makeup line, follows suit – it’s all about enhancing our own unique, natural beauty with minimal, feature-enhancing makeup. The latest to join Bobbi Brown’s makeup line – her Crushed Lip Colors – are no exception.

The Bobbi Brown Crushed Lip Colors
Bobbi Brown’s Crushed Lip Colors are designed for the minimalist girl on-the-go. To start, the application is effortless and takes no time at all. Swipe, maybe smudge ’em a bit with your finger, and you’re set – there’s no need for a liner, and no mirror required.
What makes that possible is their balm-like formula that glides on smooth and evenly (while providing much needed hydration for drier lips), combined with crushed pigments that create a blotted-on, slightly smeared, ‘lived-in’ kinda look (I’m getting total french vibes here!).
The Crushed Lip Colors start out on the sheer side, so if you’re going for a minimal, my-lips-only-better look, use one quick swipe. Feeling like you could use a bit more drama? Add another layer or two for more intense color payoff. They also have a satin-matte that almost perfectly mimics the look of healthy lips, only with a touch more sheen.
To top it off, Bobbi Brown’s Crushed Lip Colors are super comfortable to wear. They keep the lips soft, smooth, and hydrated as the day goes on, and feel virtually weightless on the lips. The formula also adheres surprisingly well despite their balm-like consistency, and then fades evenly and naturally.
There are 20 shades total – ranging from soft nudes and roses for everyday, bright oranges, reds, and pinks to add that extra pop, all the way to rich berries and wines that will have you set fall and winter. Because of variety and the fact that they can be played up or toned down, there is something for pretty much everyone. Here are 5 of my personal favorites:
