Since my last Perfectly Posh haul, my pampering session have gotten more luxurious, relaxing, and – needless to say – more frequent.  Today I want to share a review of one product I’ve been enjoying lately – the Love the Dark Black Sea Salt Body Scrub.

Love the Dark Black Salt Body Scrub

Perfectly Posh’s Love the Dark is a luxurious exfoliating body scrub that contains three varieties of sea salt and charcoal to remove dry patches and reveal smooth skin.  It also contains glycerin, shea butter, and honey, which moisturize and nourish skin.  To top it off, it has a fresh yet subtle sea breeze scent.

Key Ingredients:

  • Sea Salt – contains sodium, chloride, sulfate, magnesium, calcium, and potassium which work together to gently exfoliate, clean, and soften skin by removing dead skin cells.
  • Dead Sea Salt – helps treat acne and psoriasis, reduces inflammation, and improves hydration. It is known to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and rid the skin of harmful toxins.
  • Glycerin – helps to reduce moisture loss
  • Honey – helps skin retain moisture. It also has antioxidant, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-aging properties.

Love the Dark Body Scrub Review

Despite the high salt content, the Perfectly Posh Love the Dark Black Sea Salt Body Scrub is surprisingly gentle.  If I were to guess, the salt granules make up only about 20% of the actual scrub. Once applied to wet skin, the salts actually dissolve rather quickly, allowing for just a few seconds of exfoliation.

Although the exfoliation is rather short-lived, that really comes second to the formula’s incredible moisturizing abilities.  The combination of honey, shea butter, and gylcerin creates a feel super soothing formula that you can feel right away.  The thicker formula glides over the skin, and helps it retain moisture long after the shower.  I can skip the post-shower lotion after using this scrub – it’s that hydrating!

After using Perfectly Posh Love the Dark full-body, I have to say – it feels more like a body mask than a scrub.  I found my favorite way to use this is in the bath – it’ll do a quick scrub over my skin, let it sit for 5-10 minutes, then rinse off.  (The added benefit is that the sea salts dissolve into your bath water, so they keep working to improve hydration and draw out toxins, even after the initial application.)

After discovering how gentle this is, I broke the rules and rubbed this all over my face.  Even on the more sensitive areas, the sea salt provides a light and gentle amount of exfoliation.  I’ll then let the honey, shea butter, and glycerin get to work on my skin, allowing it to sit for a couple of minutes.  Once off and dried, it leaves my skin feeling super smooth and soft – with not tightness or dryness whatsoever!

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Perfectly Posh Love the Dark Body Scrub is an amazing full-body, multi-tasking scrub with the added benefits of a moisturizing body mask.  What I love most about this scrub is that it has a minimal list of ingredients, and features natural exfoliators and skin-loving moisturizers. If you have sensitive and/or dry skin and are looking for relaxing spa-like body treatment that’s gentle and hydrating, I absolutely recommend this!

Love the Dark is available here from Perfectly Posh, where you can pick up a hefty 9oz container for $24. (Ships out to the US only at this time.)
