Now that the holiday season is in full swing, it’s time to start planning out looks for the New Year’s. Whether you’re going out to dinner with your significant other, or partying it up with friends and family, you may already be thinking about your outfit and makeup.  To help inspire you, here’s a simple, easy look that throws in some subtle glam and drama for the holidays.  I tried to make things a bit easier and used products that 1) you can pick up at your local Walmart – no need to go all the way to Sephora or order online – and 2) you can continue to use all year long to help your skin, lips, and lashes stay healthy! đŸ™‚

‘Subtle Glam’ New Year’s Eve Makeup Look

New Year's Eve makeup tutorial

Step 1: Prep skin using your favorite moisturizer (and primer if you’d like), and then apply your favorite foundation.

Step 2: Apply concealer under the eyes.  Here I’m using the NEUTROGENA HEALTHY SKIN Brightening Eye Perfector, which adds some extra illumination.

Step 3: Blend in the concealer using your fingers or a makeup brush.

Step 4: Lightly powder your face to set your foundation (if you used a liquid).  Then, contour your cheeks with a cooler brown/taupe shade to add definition, and blend it out.

Step 5: Apply a cool toned blush to the cheeks.  Here, I used NARS Oasis blush, but any plummy, cool toned shade will work.

Step 6: Lightly fill in your brows with a soft pencil or powder to add fullness while maintaining a natural look.

Step 7: Apply a silver eyeshadow over the whole lid.  Here I’m using MAC Electra eyeshadow, but any silver or light, cool toned shadow will work.

Step 8: Apply a darker grey or black eyeshadow to the outer V and then blend out.  Here, I’m using MAC Typographic for the crease, but again, any dark shadow will do!

Step 9: Apply a liquid eyeliner and add a small wing.

Step 10: To complete the eye look and really kick up the drama, go for a volumizing mascara.  Here I’m using the NEUTROGENA Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon black (the darkest shade).  The best part? It contains Olive, Meadowfoam Seed and Sweet Almond Oils which moisturize, protect and improve the condition of lashes, making it a great multi-tasker for all year long.

Step 11: Finally, use a cool lip shade like a purple or plum color. Here, I’m using the NEUTROGENA MoistureSmooth Color Stick I like these because 1) they contain mango and Shea butter to help moisturize and condition lips, making them perfect for these drier months, and 2) they’re basically foolproof and can be applied without having to use a mirror (i.e. great for easy touch ups throughout the day/night).

And here’s the finished look!
