Summer is now in full swing, and what better way to prep for beach trips and hot weather than getting our legs smooth and glowing! Today, I’m sharing my tricks for achieving sexy legs for Summer through 5 easy steps that you can do before a big night out or just before hitting the beach. Let’s get started!
First, you’ll need to get the skin prepped. That means exfoliating and removing all the dry skin to reveal smoother skin. This also prepares skin for a closer shave or wax.
My favorite exfoliator for the legs is a coffee scrub. Coffee grounds are great because they don’t dissolve after a few minutes like sugar, so you can keep scrubbing and scrubbing. They’re also very effective at removing dry skin and rough patches, while feeling gentle on the skin. And let’s not forget, coffee is loaded with antioxidants to help protect and repair skin!
You can buy a pre-made coffee scrub, or make your own by simply mixing coffee grinds, coconut oil, and sea salt.
2) Wax or Shave Hair
After exfoliating, the next step is to remove hair, either by waxing or shaving. I personally prefer waxing because it removes the hair at its follicle and keeps my legs smoother longer.
Here I’m using the Sally Hansen Wax Strip Kit Body which includes everything you need to easily remove unwanted hair (including short hairs) to give you silky smooth skin. 3) Moisturize with Coconut Oil
Coconut oil has many benefits for the skin. It contains three saturated fatty acids including capric acid, caprylic acid and lauric acid, all of which have strong disinfectant and antimicrobial properties. That makes coconut oil a great go-to moisturizer for post-wax or shave!
4) Tan, the Safe Way
To achieve a natural and safe tan, apply a layer of self-tanning lotion or mousse. I recommend using a mitt to create a streak-free finish, while also keeping the hands stain-free! Let the lotion/mousse set for 20-30 minutes before moving on to the final step.
5) Top ‘Em off With a Little Shimmer
Now that the legs are smooth, hydrated, and tan, it’s time to add some shimmer for an extra glow! Grab a shimmery body oil, put a few drops into your palms, and then evenly spread it over your legs. The oil will add a pretty sheen and provide another layer of hydration, while the shimmer will add a natural glow to the skin!
These 5 simple steps can transform your legs and give them a gorgeous glow for Summer. Best of all, you can find most of the essentials I used for this routine at your local grocery store (including the coffee grounds and coconut oil), and CVS (including the self-tanner and Sally Hansen wax kits).
