Erborian CC Crème

Erborian’s CC Crème is a ‘high-definition’, multi-tasking face cream that moisturizes, protects, perfects and enhances your skin.  It packs tiny CC pigments, i.e. ‘Color Controlling’, designed to self adjust to your natural skin tone and provide even, lightweight coverage while also blurring fine lines and minimizing pores.  Formulated with centella asiatica, a natural herb native to India, Australia and Asia, the formula also adds radiance and glow while helping to protect and hydrate the skin.  To top it off,  Erborian’s CC Crème contains broad-spectrum SPF 25 to protect skin from harmful UVA/UVB rays.

Key Ingredients:

  • Centella Asiatica – an anti-aging ingredient; increases collagen production and antioxidant activity
  • Adenosine – an anti-aging ingredient; also mproves skin elasticity and softness.
  • Vitamin B3 – provides protection from free radicals; strengthens skin barrier; reduces skin unevenness.

How to Apply

Simply apply a thin layer on your face.  Use it in place of your daily moisturizer or, if you have really dry skin, use it right after applying your regular moisturizer.  Apply your foundation directly over top, or wear it on its own if you don’t need too much coverage.

Erborian’s CC Crème currently comes in two shades: Clair (for fair skin tones) and Regular (for Medium to Tan skin tones).  Below are swatches of the Regular version:

Erborian CC Crème Review

First, let’s talk about the shade range.  I fall right into the middle of the two shades with neutral-toned, light-medium skin (I’m roughly NC25 in MAC).  I use ‘Regular’, and it definitely adds a very warm cast that’s about 1-2 shades darker than my natural skin tone – it just barely works for me.  With that said, if you have lighter skin than mine (lower on the charts than NC25), I’d recommend trying out Clair.  Or, if it’s within your budget, grab both so you can mix and match, especially as we transition from summer to winter.

When you first dispense the formula (love the squeeze-tube package BTW), it comes out of the tube completely white.  But as you blend it in, it transitions into a warm golden beige (the ‘Regular’ shade that is).

The formula is very lightweight and super easy to blend out using your fingers.  (However, for a completely seamless finish, I’d recommend applying with a beauty blender.)  Below are a few before and after photos, where I applied the Erborian CC Crème on bare skin using my fingers:

As you can see in the photos above, the cream noticeably evens out my skin tone, and neutralizes a lot of the redness on my nose and cheeks.  It provides a decent amount of coverage – comparable to that of a lightweight foundation – and settles to a satiny smooth finish.

As someone who oily/combo skin, I have very large pores all around my nose and tops of cheeks, which the cream is impressively able to minimize.  Not to mention, it also keeps my skin balanced – I typically only have to use oil absorbing sheets once a day, as opposed to 2-3 times while wearing other brands’ BB/CC/DD creams.

The benefits also stretch beyond day-to-day wear – the formula noticeably improves my skin tone when I wear this several days in a row, making it softer and more even toned.

Overall, if you’re on the lookout for a lightweight, good-for-your-skin foundation for summer, or a skin perfector that provides a bit of light coverage to jump-start your foundation routine, I’d absolutely recommend trying out Erborian’s CC Crème.  I can see this working for all skintypes – from oily/combo like mine, to dry and normal, as it hydrates and also seems to balance at the same time, without feeling greasy or oily on the skin.
