BioClarity is by far my favorite treatment for fighting acne and pore congestion long-term. I was first introduced to BioClarity’s Clear Skin System back in January of 2017, and since then, they’ve updated their system to have a whole new look (which I’m currently loving!), while sticking with the same amazing formula. They’ve also added a brand new product to their line – one that I wish they offered back when I first started using their system – their new Hydrate Skin Smoothie.
Here’s a look at their new packaging and moisturizer, and along with my updated review and re-cap of my original results using the BioClarity Clear Skin System.
As someone with combination skin, I’m always struggling to find the perfect balance between dry and oily. My skin often experiences everything from flaky patches to excess sebum, both of which congest my pores and leave behind blackheads and large pores all over my nose, forehead, and cheeks. And then every once in a while, a little skin demon will emerge from the battlefield. That seemed to be the never-ending cycle of my skin.
Then I came across BioClarity and it piqued my interest for being a lot gentler than other acne treatment systems. Rather than using harsh chemicals, BioClarity’s Clear Skin System uses natural ingredients that not only help to fight acne, but also soothe and calm the skin to counteract redness and dryness. The entire system is also vegan and cruelty-free.
How Does the BioClarity Clear Skin System Work?
BioClarity is a twice daily, 3-step system that uses two powerful ingredients to fight acne – salicylic acid and Floralux®. Salicylic acid is a well-known pimple fighter, exfoliant, and decongestant. Floralux® is BioClarity’s breakthrough, naturally derived formula that uses chlorophyll (the pigment that gives plants their green color) to fight acne and refresh skin. Together, these two ingredients kill acne-causing bacteria and reduce pore size while alleviating skin redness, dryness, and itchiness.
BioClarity is clinically proven to:
- Attack the bacteria that causes acne before it starts
- Soothe and calm skin
- Reduce redness & pore size
- Give you clearer skin in as little as 2 weeks!
BioClarity’s Clear Skin System breaks down into 3 easy steps:
- Step 1: CLEANSE – BioClarity’s clear gel cleanser gently washes away dirt, oil, and environmental pollutants, while soothing with chamomile, green tea, and cucumber extracts. Use on wet skin, rinse with warm water, then pat dry.
- Step 2: TREATMENT – This gel delivers a powerful over-the-counter acne medicine (Salicylic Acid 2.0%), penetrating deep into pores to kill the bacteria that causes acne. It also contains antioxidants and moisturizers from oat kernel extract. Tap a light layer over your skin, then wait for it to dry before moving onto step 3.
- Step 3: RESTORE GEL – This green colored gel gets its color from Floralux®, which uses the power of naturally derived chlorophyll to soothe skin, alleviate redness, reduce pore size, and kill acne-causing bacteria. Apply one to two pumps of this green, cooling gel to your skin to comfort and soothe it.
BioClarity’s New Hydrate Skin Smoothie
BioClarity recently introduced a new product that can be used in conjunction with Clear Skin System for extra hydration – their Hydrate Skin Smoothie. Hydrate is an oil-free, lightweight moisturizer that feels equally, if not more refreshing, than the Restore Gel. It’s packed with vitamin and moisture-rich ingredients like Argan, Olive, Jojoba, Chamomile, Shea, Licorice Root, and Ceramides. Similar to the Restore Gel, Hydrate also gives you all the acne-fighting, pore-minimizing, soothing benefits of Floralux®. The formula quickly absorbs, leaving behind comforted, hydrated, matte skin with zero shine or greasy residue. It’s 100% vegan, cruelty free, gluten free, paraben free, free of artificial fragrances and allergens, and noncomedogenic.
Hydrate is the perfect addition to the BioClarity Clear Skin System (and the one missing piece from the 3-step system in my opinion, especially for those of us with drier skin). When you need that extra bit of hydration, simply apply it after step 3, the Restore Gel. Hydrate can also be incorporated into any skincare routine, even if you’re not interested in the Clear Skin System, but are on the market for a gentle, soothing, skin-quenching moisturizer that packs all the benefits of Floralux®.
BioClarity Review & Results
The first step – the cleanser – creates a light foaming lather that removes even my stubborn, water-proof eye makeup without causing my skin to feel dry or tight afterwards. The next step is the Treatment gel. When applied in a thin layer, it absorbs fairly quickly (within about 15 seconds) without leaving behind any residue. Finally, for my favorite part – the cooling green Restore Gel. This cool green gel leaves my skin feeling soothed and refreshed, and helps to alleviate the dryness that I’ll often see (and feel) when using Salicylic Acid.
Speaking of the Restore Gel, its deep green color may look a bit scary, but it absorbs completely without leaving behind a noticeable green cast. It also provides a decent amount of hydration, however, it doesn’t quite replace a moisturizer, especially if you have naturally drier skin.
BioClarity Restore Gel
BioClarity Restore Gel blended in
Overall, this 3-step process is super simple and fairly quick – it takes me around 4-5 minutes total from the time I start cleansing, to when everything has absorbed and my skin is ready for makeup.
BioClarity Before & After
I tried out BioClarity for 30 days straight, swapping out my current skincare routine completely with their 3-step system. After a full four weeks of using the system, my pores were already looking less congested, and even smaller and tighter. The redness and little bumps I had on my cheeks as the result of clogged pores (and possibly irritation from other products) completely disappeared. I was leaving the house without foundation and feeling so much more confident in my skin! It looked a lot healthier, clearer, smoother, and much more even toned overall.
Results after 4 weeks
Most impressively, throughout the entire process I experienced very little dryness and flaking, and zero redness, which is amazing for a system that uses 2% salicylic acid. The Restore Gel definitely makes a difference and is one key feature that will keep me coming back to this acne-fighting routine again and again.
Overall, if you struggle with acne or never-ending pore congestion, I highly recommend trying out BioClarity’s Clear Skin System. For $29.95 a month, you’ll get a 30-day supply of steps 1, 2, and 3 (which for me lasts well past 30 days).
