Rituel de Fille Rare Light Luminizers Review & Swatches

After spotting Rituel de Fille’s gorgeous, ethereal highlighters on several of my favorite blogs, I just had to try them out for myself.  So I headed on over to The Detox Market and grabbed samples of two shades – Lunaris and Ghost Light.  Keep reading for some swatches and my first impressions!

Rituel de Fille Rare Light Luminizers

Rituel de Fille is a clean beauty brand founded by three sisters, all accomplished artists who were inspired by the “magical side of natural ingredients” and the “ritualistic, ceremonial power of pigment”.   Their creations align beautifully with these philosophies – from their handcrafted, 99% natural formulations to their unique, otherworldly finishes, textures, and shades.  Take a browse through their makeup range and you’ll find everyday wearable, sophisticated concoctions like their naturally moisturizing Enchanted Lip Sheers, along with more playful potions and powders like their shimmery, night sky-inspired Celestial Sphere Eye Soots.

Rituel de Fille’s Rare Light Luminizers fall somewhere in the middle of this spectrum.  They’re amazingly versatile and buildable creams designed to impart an ethereal glow that “subtly shifts and transforms to reveal a remarkable depth of color”.  They’re currently available in five shades, all inspired by various “light phenomena” – from the soft flickering flame of a candle, to the warm rays of the sun, to the cool radiance of moonlight.  As with almost all of Rituel de Fille’s products, the Rare Light Luminizers can be used on different areas of the face and body – the cheeks, lips, eyes, brow bone, decollete, and shoulders, just to name a few.

“Radiant arcs reaching over the horizon, flickering blazes that move as if alive, and glimmers just at the edge of vision are the inspiration of myth and the source of limitless wonder. We have captured this ephemeral, mysterious beauty to create our Rare Light Luminizers.”

‘Levitating with the glow of lantern light or the flickering flame of a candle, the ghost light flits through the darkness of forests and marshes, inspiring stories of will-o’-the-wisp and elemental spirits. This opalescent shade illuminates with a cool-toned pale pink and a shift of violet-blue.’

‘The full moon glows softly, magnified by the atmosphere and casting an iridescent halo. Its cool-toned radiance is at once calming and enlivening, comforting and strange. Lunaris captures moonlight at your fingertips with an unexpected, hauntingly beautiful blue-shifting opal.’

Rituel de Fille Rare Light Luminizer Review

Packed with ultra-fine mica, the Rituel de Fille Rare Light Luminizers impart a sheer wash of color and a strobe-like iridescence onto the skin.  You can build them up for intense radiance, or sheer them out for a softer glow and subtle color only where the light hits (as shown in the photos below).

Judging by these two shades alone, the formulas seem to have a consistent feel – they’re creamy, yet thin and lightweight, and spread like silk.  To apply, I’ll pick up the smallest amount with my finger and tap it onto my cheeks.  The formula melts right in, and blends quickly and evenly thanks to jojoba oil, castor seed oil, and lanolin that make up its base.

The best part is, these luminizers don’t feel greasy or tacky on the skin, and they stay put for 8+ hours on my cheeks (where my skin ranges from normal to dry).  They also look beautiful on the lips, mixed in or applied over top of lipstick especially.  On my (somewhat oily) eyelids however, they tend to crease quite a bit, which tells me that these may not be the best choice for oily skin types.

Rituel de Fille Rare Light Luminizers Swatch, review (1 of 1)

Overall, Rituel de Fille’s ethereal, otherworldly highlighters are a refreshing find in the world of natural, clean beauty.  Their unique shade range and gorgeous iridescent shifts are the most unique I’ve come across as of yet (the photos don’t quite do them justice!).  And to top it off, their high color payoff and lightweight, long-lasting formula is most impressive.  I’m looking forward to trying out the three warmer shades in the collection – Anthelion, Phosphene, and Solaris – as summertime draws nearer!
