Ardell 120 Demi Black Natural Lashes Review

This post is all about my first experience with….(drum roll please)…false lashes! Lately, I’ve been watching a lot of Youtube eye makeup tutorials that incorporate false lashes, and  I noticed that even with eye shadow and eye liner, false lashes took their looks to a completely new level.  So I decided that it was time to try them out for myself.  Luckily, I had this pair of Ardell 120 Demi fashion lashes from an Ipsy bag that were just laying around. 🙂ardell natrual 120 demi black false lashes

So here’s the brand I’m going to try on – Ardell 120 Demi Black fashion lashes.  I think these may be just a tad more on the dramatic side of the ‘Natural’ lash category.  And in the overall lash spectrum (I did a little exploring on what’s out there…) from the almost undetectable lashes to the thickest, most glamorous looking lashes, I think these fall just in the middle.

Applying the Ardell 120 Demi Black Lashes

Let’s start off with the application. My Ardell 120 Demi lashes actually came with a mini glue packet (which is not typically the case, so you’ll likely need to purchase a lash glue separately) which I found was easy to apply by first gently squeezing the glue along the lashes and then smoothing it out with my finger into an even layer. Then I gently pressed the lashes on the lids as close as I could get them to the natural lash line, after first waiting 20-30 seconds for the glue to set, as per the instructions.  The glue dries clear, so I didn’t necessarily find the need to fill in the lash line with eyeliner (though it would definitely have made the look more polished).

After my first application of the 120 Demi Black lashes, I found two of the ends were starting to come off, so I had to go over those sides again. Now this could have been my mistake by not applying enough glue in the first place.  After this touch up, I was good for the rest of the day. 🙂  One thing I learned from this is to always add a little extra glue to both ends of the lashes to help them stick.  Also, you can definitely cut these down to fit your lashes – right out of the box I found them to be a little long for me.

As you can see, the Ardell 120 Demi lashes can add a lot of oomph to your look. They not only add fullness and volume, but also a lot of length (though not as much as the Ardell Fairies lashes). The lash fibers are all around the same length, and don’t vary too much from end to end like the Ardell Demi Wispies.

Personally, while wearing them, I didn’t feel like I needed to apply mascara or eyeliner since you’re already getting the bold color, volume, and curl, as well as a nice thin black lash line.

In the above photo (and actually all of the photos for that matter), I’m wearing them just on their own, with no other eye makeup on, so you can see the effect they have by themselves.  When paired with eyeshadow and eyeliner, I think these would really compliment a full makeup look.

You can pick up these little guys on Amazon.  Also, make sure you have lash glue to apply these (the lashes typically don’t come with glue).  I recommend using Ardell’s lash glues (I find theirs work better than the others I’ve tried), which are also available here on Amazon, and come in both clear and dark (I use clear).

What are your favorite Ardell fashion lashes?
