5 Things This Week

5 things this week april 2016

Experimental Beauty – There are a whole new breed of beauty brands emerging – ones that embrace a more ‘experimental’ and artistic approach to makeup.  They’ve designed a unique range of formulas, textures, and colors that can be mixed, blended, adjusted, and played with to create a look that’s completely your own.  MAKE and MILK are two relatively new brands that fall under this category.  I was lucky enough to get my hands on a few of MAKE’s products this week and fell in love.  If you’re like me and have a thing for quirky or ethereal-type looks, I’m sure you’ll have fun exploring their makeup too!

Going Darker – As you may have caught in my recent Summer beauty routine post, I had it in my plans to try out the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Visibly Deeper Colour Deepening system.  Just last week, I finished my first treatment in the shower, and boy was I shocked to see my hair transformed – it came out looking almost two shades darker.  The best part is that the color lasts too, through multiple washes, even if you use a different brand’s shampoo.  I’m absolutely thrilled that I found a safe method for hair dying.  Not to mention it’s also cheaper, quicker, and less messy than going to a salon or coloring out of a box.  (Stay tuned for my post on Monday, where I’ll be showing the before and after!)

Marble – I’m loving everything marble these days.  I want to literally cover everything I own in it – my phone, my laptop, and…me!  Thanks to this cute pendant necklace from Happy Boutique, marble has finally made its way into my jewelry collection.  I’ve been wearing this necklace almost everyday now – I love that it feels a bit edgy, and even a tad medieval.  Now on to buy one of those classy looking marble laptop covers… 😉 (Use code ‘jessoshii’ to get 10% orders over 19 euros/~$22 USD on Happy Boutique’s website, valid until May 11th.)

Subscription Addiction – The April boxes have already started to ship out, but I’m still enjoying last month’s Petit Vour box – even as I sit here and type, spritzing the lovely LBA Geranium & White Tea Beauty Mist into my face every hour.  🙂  I’ve also been enjoying the Suki’s Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser (using it every night now), and the Dual Base/Top Coat from Lauren B Beauty (oh-so-practical for manis and pedis).  Totally recommend this beauty box – you can sign up here if you’re interested!

Summer Style – Sandals, sunglasses, jewelry, and dresses.  That’s all you need to look beach ready.  This year, I’ve added a new maxi dress into the mix – the Cranesbill Maxi Dress from Selfie Leslie.  It makes for fun, bohemian-style beach, poolside, and even late night wear on chilly Summer evenings.  I particularly love it’s floral stitching – to me, it looks something you’d pick up on an exotic trip overseas. 😉   Cue the vintage filter…
